Hello! My name is Melanie Gouine. I have been teaching at North Columbus Elementary for 7 years now. I have taught both 4th and 5th grades, but 4th grade is my heart. I will be teaching your child Reading and Social Studies this year. Mrs. Carney will be teaching the Math and Science. This is to give your child a taste of the switching schedule which will be very important when they reach middle school.

I graduated from Columbus State University with my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education in 2010. I then graduated from CSU with my Master's degree in Early Childhood Education in 2012. I have since obtained my Gifted Endorsement as well. I absolutely LOVE to learn. History is my favorite subject and reading is my favorite hobby :)

I have been married for five years now. I have a 12 year old- Christian. I also have a 2 year old, Chloe. We have a Siberian Husky (Dakota), a Papillon (Nemo), and a tabby cat (Prince).

I was named 2018 MCSD TOTY and I seek to inspire teachers within our district as well as my students to be the absolute best versions of themselves!
